Welcome to our journal here at Empower and Elevate! We aim to provide additional insight, psychoeducation, and therapeutic tips as additional resources for clients in our community. Hopefully you will find something that sparks your interest!
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to visit my page. My name is Rachael Reed, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Family and Marriage Therapist. My pursuit of becoming a counselor began when I started my undergraduate degree at Sam Houston State University. During college I taught tennis full time, and it was evident that my love of coaching and teaching, along with my ability to connect with adolescents, sparked a true passion to pursue counseling. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Human Services followed by a master’s degree in Counseling, with a concentration in Marriage, Couples, and Family. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy through North Central University to continue to provide the best care for clients.
Having experienced being “on the other side of the couch” I believe that I have a unique ability to connect and empathize with many clients. As a counselor it is my driving purpose to remove the stigma of seeking mental health services. My main focus is to ensure that I meet the client where they are in their season of life by providing an environment that builds a trusting relationship, where the client feels heard and accepted. While utilizing various modalities of psychotherapy this offers clients the most effect methods for treatment. My philosophy is to utilize a family systems approach that focuses on relational patterns to create positive and lasting change by offering valuable insight. I use a solution focused approach that meet your goals and specific needs by identifying the strengths necessary to be successful in life.
I have worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, a residential facility for adolescents, a psychiatric hospital and a nonprofit organization providing services to young women, couples and families experiencing depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and grief and loss. I look forward to the opportunity to work alongside you during your counseling journey.
